Walgreens deals and disappointments

May 29th, 2011 at 07:51 pm

Walgreens was having a good 2 day sale starting today and I knew if I wanted to get the specials I would have to go early. I went at 9:30 but they were already sold out of the 2 things I wanted the most. Ritz Crackerfuls for my niece and Lily coffee for my dad. It's frustrating that Walgreens never has enough product on their best deals. They have 10 or so and they don't restock until the sale is over.

I did get some other good deals. 4 Right Guard deodorants for free and 3 boxes 45 Ct Ecotrin that I made .40/each on. These all go to the food pantry. I also got 10 boxes of sugar-free Royal Gelatin for .20/each.

I finished reading the library book The Storm Witch by Violette Malan. Sci/Fi - very good.

I think the extent to which Walgreens advertises items they have few of is intentional and wrong!

One day I was in there on a Saturday. They already had tags on the shelves for the Sunday 2-for-1 sale. For an item I would have come back for the next morning, they only had one such product, meaning no one would have been able to take advantage of the sale without involving a raincheck.

I agree w/Joan about this being intentional.

I was lucky this week and my closest but smallest WAG had all 4 items I wanted in stock at 8:30 am and they are a 24 hr store. Most of the time this store is OUT before 6 am.

Since this has happened to me 3x in the last 6 weeks I had every intention of filing complaints w/ WAG corp, BBB, FTC and my states attorney if it happened again. I am keeping a list, checking it twice.........I heartily suggest more people do this. Then maybe they will finally go to a system like CVS where RR can be printed for a raincheck.

If I know for sure I am going to purchase the items, I go a day or so ahead of time and put the items in a different row behind other items. Maybe its not right but then neither is the way Walgreens stocks their store. If they have 10 or more, I only take the one or two I want, leaving plenty for others.
