I got a coupon in the mail for a new dentist - exam and xrays $49. I haven't been to the dentist in over 2 years because my old dentist hygenists were butchering my mouth when they cleaned my teeth. My parents and sisters family use him too and we've all complained about the roughness. So anyways when I saw the coupon and saw she was not too far in town I called for an appt. The cleaning was another $78 - total $127. My mom just spent $159 at our old dentist for the same thing.
The hygenist was very gentle, my mouth is a little sore but considering I had 2+ years of plaque it's hardly her fault. I didn't have any cavities but have a tooth that is chipping that they want to fill at a cost of $250. I'll think about it since it doesn't bother me. The dentist was nice and I'll probably go back. They gave me a cute little bag of goodies after the process. It included sensitive teeth toothpaste, a toothbrush, mouthwash, dental floss and chapstick. The toothpaste goes to mom, the toothbrush goes to brother, the dental floss and mouthwash go to the food pantry and I'll keep the chapstick.
She's the first dentist who hasn't told me I should get my wisdom teeth pulled, even though they never came in completely and don't hurt and aren't causing any problems. My philosophy is if it doesn't hurt leave it alone. It really bugs me when dentists/doctors make generic recommendations whether they apply to the person or not.
I planned to pick up the scrubbing bubbles deal at Target afterwards but they were completely out. They were out of some other things I wanted too, so that was a bust. I guess I'll miss out on that one, since I won't go all the way back in town just for one thing. I stopped by the used bookstore since I was in town and picked up a few more books to read.
I finished reading my book Sitka by Louis L'Amour. Western - pretty good.
