I haven't had a bath in more than 5 years

January 19th, 2011 at 08:08 pm

I love long hot showers, especially with the massager beating down on my shoulders and head. The last time I was in an actual bathtub was when we went to Canada and I used the whirlpool tub in one of the hotel rooms I stayed in. However, because I take a shower everyday, my brain skips when it comes to wondering if I already shampoo'd or not. This morning I was wondering if I shampoo'd and I thought I had, but couldn't remember for sure. A few minutes later I started wondering again if I had shampoo'd. I'm pretty sure I did between the first wonder and the second wonder, but can't really remember Smile Old age, or just poor memory? The problem is I shampoo every morning so am I remembering this morning's shampoo or some other morning's shampoo? My hair looks ok, so I must have shampoo's at some point today. Who knows how many times Smile

I got gas at $2.86/gal today - total $30.44 and I picked up a prescription for $5.50. I'm out of prescription coupons so no free groceries Frown

I got a free slim fast peanut butter bar in the mail. I'll donate it to the food pantry.

I finished reading the library book The White Road by Lynn Flewelling. Sci/Fi - good.

Oh-ho-ho-ho. You made me laugh. I've done the same thing about shampooing. Then there are the times I forget to finish rinsing my hair and realize it while drying off. Back to the shower I go.

I love a long hot half-asleep shower too. I have a system so I remember what I have and haven't done. Before I go to bed at night, I make sure my shampoo, conditioner, body wash, Noxzema and razor are next to the water faucet. In the morning, as I use each item I put it away in the little built-in shelf. I've been doing this so long that it is automatic, I don't have to think about it at all.

I often wonder, too. I test my hair for squeakiness, and if I'm still unsure, I'll shampoo again. I know that's unfrugal, but I like clean hair.

I hardly shampoo anymore. I used to wash my hair everyday, but now I only wash it every third or fourth day. I know it seems odd, but as I've gotten older my hair has gotten dryer. With fewer washes, my hair looks better now then it ever has...strange. I do love hot showers though...

I have to ask this, other than stretching your dollars, how were you able to retire so early? Were you a good investor or what?? I would love to know your secret.

You could have touched the shampoo bottle and see if it was wet maybe?

Since i'm not working, I don't shampoo every other day like i usually do, and like savings queen, i let it go til 3 or 4 days becus all those years of coloring has made my hair coarse and dry. Can't say it's improved my hair yet, but we'll see.

Savings Queen - I've written several posts about how I was able to retire early. Try July/August 2008 or March 2010 posts. I'll do a post on my investing style sometime soon. I wasn't a super investor, I would say I was mostly patient and persistent.
