I'm getting old

May 26th, 2010 at 04:35 am

My oldest niece has a birthday coming up in June. Mom and I took both nieces to Denver for birthday present shopping. OMG! It was a very good day, but we spent 2 hours in 2 stores. My niece had to look at everything in the store, she had to try on half the store and then settle for 2 things. The music was loud, and obnoxious to me. My mom and I both got so tired of standing waiting for her. We sat on one of the display ledges in one of the stores, it was extremely hard and we were both stiff after a while. Used to be we could shop all day in a mall, but I don't ever remember spending an hour in any one store. Signs that I'm getting old are I dislike most of the clothes, I hate the music, I also get stiff and sore standing around all day. But I love my niece so it was worth it - I guess Smile

We also went to Border's were I got 2 books for me using my reward gift cards from my credit card and 33% off coupons.

After the mall we went to the Container Store which is one of my favorite stores. For once, however, I didn't buy anything from them.

Then mom took us to the White Chocolate Grill for dinner. Which is a very expensive restaurant, but is one of my nieces favorites - mostly for the desserts. We had a late lunch so I wasn't that hungry. I got a Rustic Club sandwich with fries and ate about half the sandwich and a few of the fries. I brought the other half home. It was really good. The main reason for going though was the desserts. Their desserts are $7 each and are supposed to serve 2. My mom and I split a White Chocolate brownie. It was decadent. The brownie was about 4" x 4" and topped with a large scoop of vanilla ice cream, hot fudge sauce and huge peels of curled white chocolate. I had one bite of the brownie and half the ice cream and a couple of the chocolate curls. Mom ate all of her half and I took the rest home. My oldest niece had the White Chocolate souffle cake. She ate about 2/3 rds of it and brought the rest home and my youngest niece had the rasperry cheesecake. She also ate about 2/3 rds and brought the rest home. We were all totally stuffed when done, but it was very, very good.

We stopped at Target on the way home to get the rest of the birthday presents. My oldest niece is working at Target this summer and gets a 10% discount on everything so we used that. I spent $40 on her presents and $7.46 for lunch, and got 2 books and dinner and leftovers for tomorrow for free. We started at 1 pm and got home just before 9 pm - a very long day.

I finished reading the library book changes by Jim Butcher. Sci/Fi - very good.

I can't shop for hours and I'm only 22! lol. my eyes get sore from the lights and i feel like i'm being suffocated by the crowds of people. a whole hour in one store - that's commitment! Big Grin

I can stand and sit at Borders for hours and not notice any time has gone by. Put me in a teen store and 15 mins feels like torture, 2 hours would be a true act of love.

    The desserts sounded mouthwatering. Wow!

As for the standing around, I don't like it either. DH is a clothes horse and after awhile, I wander off. I'm with you, I don't like most of the styles and the music gets on my nerves. Maybe it's because we know we don't need that much so it annoys us!
